Once a TV Heartthrob, Now 68, David Caruso Looks Completely Different
For millions of television viewers, David Caruso was once one of the most recognizable faces on crime television.
With his distinctive red hair, serious expression, and unmistakable screen presence, Caruso became closely associated with some of the most memorable detective characters of the 1990s and 2000s. But after years away from the spotlight, recent photographs have left many longtime viewers surprised by just how much he has changed.
Before becoming a household name, Caruso spent years working his way through smaller roles in movies and television. His early credits included appearances in productions such as Hill Street Blues, First Blood, and An Officer and a Gentleman. These roles helped him build experience and establish himself as an actor capable of playing intense, complicated characters.
Then came the role that changed everything.
In 1993, Caruso was cast as Detective John Kelly on NYPD Blue. The series quickly became one of television’s most talked-about police dramas, and Caruso’s performance attracted widespread attention.
